THE CIVIC CENTER CONSERVANCYANNOUNCES DETAILS FOR THIRD-ANNUAL
JULY 3RD FREE COMMUNITY CELEBRATION IN CIVIC CENTER PARK
FEATURING COLORADO SYMPHONY CONCERT, LIGHT SHOW, FIREWORKS FINALE AND TV BROADCAST

 

(DENVER, CO – June 18, 2012) The Civic Center Conservancy announces details for the third-annual free community concert and fireworks display on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Denver’s Civic Center Park (Colfax & Broadway) beginning at 8:00 p.m. Independence Eve presented by Anadarko is free and open to the public. KTVD-TV, Channel 20 - one of the Networks of 9NEWS - will broadcast a one-hour, commercial-free special of the event on Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at 8:00pm.

 

“Civic Center Park is the ideal place to celebrate country, community and culture,” said Civic Center Conservancy Executive Director Lindy Eichenbaum Lent. “Now entering its third year, Independence Eve continues to engage more people in Civic Center’s future by creating a beloved tradition rooted in this historic park. Thanks to our new partnership with 9News and KTVD-20, the incredible sights and sounds of Independence Eve will be available on July 4th as well. We are particularly grateful to Anadarko and the City and County of Denver for their continued support since helping us launch this event in 2010. Independence Eve presented by Anadarko will be emceed by Denise Plante, host of KOSI 101's "Murphy & Denise" morning show and 9NEWS' "Colorado & Company." The Colorado Symphony concert will be led by Resident Conductor Scott O’Neil, include a guest appearance by Opie Gone Bad’s Jake Schroeder, and feature the Star Spangled Banner (Key), Liberty Fanfare (Williams), Hoe-Down from Rodeo (Copland), Salute to the Big Bands (Custer), The Washington Post March (Sousa), Ashokan Farewell (Traditional), West Side Story (Bernstein), The Raiders March (Williams), Born in the U.S.A. (Springsteen), God Bless America (Berlin), Armed Forces Salute (Arr. Lowden), Overture 1812 (Tchaikovsky), The Thunderer (Sousa), and Stars and Stripes Forever (Sousa).

Independence Eve presented by Anadarko will be accented with a light show on the Denver City and County Building and stunning fireworks display. Lawn seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis; arriving early is greatly encouraged, as are blankets or low-rise concert/beach chairs. Attendees are welcome to bring their own picnics; concessions will also be available on-site. The event will take place rain or shine.

Parking is available at nearby surface lots and parking garages, including the Denver Justice Center Garage located at 490 West 14th Ave (SW corner of 14th Street & Delaware Street) and the Central Parking lots/garages at 1530 Cleveland Place, Denver Pavilions (Garage entrance at 15th & Welton and valet parking available on Glenarm between 15th and 16th), 1256 Delaware, 1440 Tremont, 1200-1300 blocks of Cherokee and 1745 Sherman.
