Civic Center MOVES

Free Fitness Five Days a Week!

Civic Center MOVES is a free fitness series for all levels produced year-round by the nonprofit Civic Center Conservancy.  From late April through early October, classes are outdoors in Civic Center Park; from mid-October through April, classes are indoors at the Civic Center McNichols Building.  For possible schedule/location adjustments, follow us on Facebook.

All MOVES particpants are required to fill out an electronic waiver the first time they attend a class.  The waiver is available on-site, but you can save time and do it HERE before you come.

Monday Evenings, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.:  Power Vinyasa Yoga with The River
Civic Center Park: Great Lawn | April 29 - October 7
An invigorating flow class of meditation in motion that will empower and transform you in body, mind and spirit. Learn to go with the flow, find your edge and practice at your own level.


Tuesday Lunchtimes, 12:15 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.:  Workout Roulette with Compass Fitness
Civic Center Park: Great Lawn | April 30 - October 29
A game of chance. Body weight, cardiovascular training, HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), and moves you didn’t know you could do. You’ll leave exhausted, but strong as you’ve ever felt!


Wednesday Mornings, 5:30 a.m. - 6:15 a.m. & 6:15 a.m. - 7:00 a.m.:

Fitness Tribe with the November Project
Civic Center Park: Alternates between the Greek Theater and the Capitol Steps | Year-Round
November Project is a free, grassroots, fitness tribe aimed at building community that relies on the accountability of our members to show up each morning regardless of the weather conditions or their busy schedules.  Our exercise routines are scalable in order to allow us to bring people of all shapes, sizes, and athletic abilities together in the same venue to run, climb, and burpee at their own pace.  In 45-minutes, we get in a tough workout, meet new friends and set a positive tone for the day ahead.

 

Wednesday Lunchtimes, 12:15 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.: Hip Hop + Groove with Breaking Barriers

Civic Center Park: Great Lawn | June 5 - October 30 (Note summer start date)

This is a fun recreational class for all levels, incorporating the basics of Hip Hop and social party dances. Come ready to sweat and let loose to Hip Hop classics from then and now!


Thursday Lunchtimes, 12:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.:  Yoga Cross with The River & Fitness in the City
Civic Center Park: Broadway Terrace | May 2 - October 31
Yoga Cross is a dynamic combination of 30 minutes of functional fitness training followed by 30 minutes of power vinyasa yoga.  This unique workout will elevate your heart-rate, strengthen your body, and bring balance to mind and spirit.  All levels welcome.

 

Friday Lunchtimes: 12:15 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.: Workout Roulette with Compass Fitness

The River Yoga
The River is a uniquely beautiful, locally-owned yoga studio in the heart of Denver.  Our mission is to provide exceptional yoga experiences, educational programs, intentional partnerships and a hOMe where community and individuals are encouraged to live into their fullest potential.  Classes at The River are a balance between physical challenge and mindfulness.  We strive to make yoga accessible to everyone in our community…young and old, experienced and novices.  Weekly classes formats include power vinyasa yoga (heated and not), gentle yoga, Yoga Cross (functional fitness and yoga), Align+ Burn (yoga with weights) and kid yoga.
 

Compass Fitness

Compass Fitness provides an exceptional community and energy-driven fitness experience.  Led by a crew of Denver’s premier trainers, the gym offers personal and group training including boxing/kickboxing, HIIT, yoga, core, and speed/agility, all housed under one roof.

 

November Project – Denver

Lisa Engelken/Breaking Barriers
Lisa is a full time professional dancer in Denver, Colorado.  She is passionate about guiding others to their natural abilities in rhythm and movement.  Dance is for everyone and Lisa creates her class to be a low pressure environment and full of fun.  She has a performance company called Breaking Barriers which blends street dance with contemporary dance theatre.

 

Fitness in The City
Prepare to join the most ENERGETIC and MOTIVATING fitness movement in Denver.  Come experience a variety of total body group workouts including calisthenics, plyometrics, strength, and cardiovascular training.  As a member of our community, you can also discover popular classes such as:  Zumba, Body Combat, and MMA conditioning.  We communicate with kettle bells, ViPr Tubes, aqua bags, ski rowers, and much more!  All skill levels can learn the language.  We Speak Fluent Fitness- Do YOU?
