Civic Center EATS Green Week

Sept. 25 - Sept. 27

Civic Center EATS Green Week

The Civic Center Conservancy is excited to announce the launch of  Civic Center EATS Green Week,

Sept. 25th – 27th, 2018, 11 am - 2 pm.  As the stewards of Civic Center Park – Denver’s only National Historic Landmark – the Conservancy seeks a clean, healthy and environmentally-conscious atmosphere for its visitors.  This pilot program is the first step in making the largest ongoing activation of Civic Center Park the greenest.

The WHO, WHAT & WHY...

1) Together with Sunbelt Rentals & Majestic Collaborations, we’re bringing in a festival power system that ties in to the Greek Theater, so our food trucks are not running on generators; we are excited to see what EATS sounds and smells like without them!

2) Local organizations Cut the Plastic and Scraps, along with local volunteer groups, are helping us add composting to our waste disposal efforts and have three-stream waste collection on-site at EATS.  We will provide education for attendees on how to properly dispose of their lunch items, and the compost items will be hauled away each day – our goal is not to have any food in the trash receptacles in Civic Center Park.  Additionally, we will be working with our food truck partners towards the goal of using recyclable and compostable containers and utensils.

3) The Conservancy is making these significant investments on a pilot basis to learn about the costs and implementation hurdles surrounding a full sustainability program rollout in 2019.  It is our hope to learn what we will need to implement these items on a season-long basis next summer, making Civic Center EATS a Certifiably Green public activation of Civic Center Park.

We can’t do it alone! Becoming “Green” is costly, so if you’d like to help us in our mission, click here  or text “EATS” to 52182. Your support is greatly appreciated.
